Superion has been, and always will be my favorite Gestalt. Perhaps its because he was the first Gestalt I ever had, or maybe it's just because he is the biggest badass of the Combiners in my estimation. Whatever the reason, Superion holds a special place in my heart. |

In the cartoon, the Aerialbots were created by Vector Sigma (the Cybertronian computer) by order of Optimus Prime to give the Autobots more firepower in the air. It was at this same time that the Stunticons were created. At first, the Aerialbots were reluctant to fight alongside the Autobots for the humans, but after realizing their ignorance, they came back to help the Autobots against a battle with the Stunticons. The Aerialbots first merged to form Superion in order to combat the newly formed Menasor. With help from Omega Supreme, Superion defeated Menasor. The two had a rivalry from then on. Along with the other Autobot Gestalts (Defensor and Computron)The Aerialbots and Superion continued to have appearances on the show until the episodes came to a close. |
| As mentioned, Superion was the first Gestalt that I owned as a child, earning him a special place in my heart. Superion in toy form is quite tall; taller than the other gestalts, save for Predaking. He is very true to the cartoon version of himself, with the exception of his weopon. In the cartoon his rifle seems to be mounted on his arm. In toy form, he simply holds it in his hand. Superion suffers from "skinny leg syndrome", in that his thighs are a bit thin and look out of proportion. This is something that they corrected in the cartoon. Because of this leg problem, Superion isn't quite as sturdy as some other Gestalts, but it is only a minor detraction. In all, Superion is a great piece, grading out at a solid A. |
