Silverbolt

Silverbolt has always been a personal favorite of mine. This is partly due to the fact that he was the leader of my favorite Gestalt team. But even beyond that, Silverbolt was a very strong character in the cartoons and comics, and was someone who you could really identify with.

Silverbolt In the cartoon, Silverbolt was deathly afraid of heights. This was due to the fact that on Cybertron (before he was reconstructed as an Aerialbot), he used to be a low-flying transport ship. To keep his mind off of his fear, Optimus Prime made him team-leader of the Aerialbots. On more than one occasion, Silverbolt had to convince the other Aerialbots not to desert the Autobots, and really demonstrated why he was designated team leader. Throughout the series, the Aerialbots proved to be the most indispensable Gestalt team to the Autobot ranks, and the most valuable of these Aerialbots was Silverbolt.

Silverbolt is among my top four or five favorite Transformers; both character-wise and as a toy. As a jet, Silverbolt is a dead-ringer for his cartoon likeness. The front landing gear extends and retracts. Once transformed, Silverbolt looks even better. Armed with Superion's rifle, Silverbolt is quite tall, even for being a team leader. While Silverbolt's legs look a little on the thin side, it is really overshadowed by his overall appeal. He comes packaged with Superion's feet, hands, chest plates, rifle, and head. Silverbolt also comes equipped with a ramp, which he uses in a third transformation mode. All in all, Silverbolt really shines, earning him a grade of A-. Silverbolt Toy
