DEFENSOR

Defensor was introduced at the end of the second season of the Transformers cartoon series. Not much background was given about him, and strangely enough, there were more episodes featuring the Protectobots in which they didn't merge to form Defensor than there were ones in which they did.

Defensor Unlike other Gestalt teams such as the Aerialbots, Stunticons, and Combaticons, we weren't really given any grand introduction to the Protectobots - they just seemed to show up one episode. This is too bad, because Defensor is one of the cooler Gestalts. Defensor seemed to be the arch-nemesis of Bruticus. It's funny, because every time the two fought, Defensor seemed to kick the living shit out of Bruticus. Defensor was portrayed as the "guardian of human civilization" - almost always saving some group of citizens from certain doom. Once, Defensor was seen merging without First Aid, therefore having only one arm - a cool effect. A powerful warrior, Defensor seemed to be the second best fighter amongst the Autobot Gestalts (next to Superion), and had regular appearances on the show up until the final episodes.

In my opinion, Defensor's toy version looks even better than his cartoon version - that is a rarity! With one look at him, you can tell that Defensor is solidly constructed. A bit shorter than Superion, he seems to be a tad bit stockier than the Aerialbot Gestalt. Defensor has two chest plates and one hip plate, which is a unique combination for the Gestalt toys; it does look pretty damn cool though. I also like the black accessories (hands, feet, etc.) on Defensor - they really look sharp. Defensor comes armed with Hot Spot's two fireball cannons. In conclusion, while I still like Superion and Computron better than Defensor, he still grades out at a solid A-. Defensor Toy
