Hot Spot |

Hot Spot is a character that was pretty run-of-the-mill in the cartoon and comics. He really wasn't a guy that stood out. However, the combination of being a cool toy, and a Gestalt team leader itself made him memorable. |

Even though he is the Protectobot team leader, Hot Spot doesn't get the most screentime of the team; that distinction belongs to First Aid. What we did see, is that Hot Spot isn't really a take charge leader; the Protectobots all seem to have a pretty equal say in team activities. They work very well this way, so it didn't seem to be a liability to them. Hot Spot seemed to be an even-tempered, understanding character. Once, when First Aid left the Autobots because of feelings of inadequacy, it was Hot Spot who convinced him to return with him to the team. Hot Spot and the rest of the Protectobots all had frequent appearances in the cartoon, up through the final episodes. |
Hot Spot is a really nice toy. One look and you can tell that he is solidly constructed, in fact, much like Defensor, Hot Spot's toy version is a little bit cooler looking than is cartoon counterpart. In fire truck mode, Hot Spot is a bit nicer than Inferno, but other than a retractable ladder, how cool can a firetruck really be? So, moving on to his robot form Hot Spot really starts to impress. What is cool about Hot Spot, and unique amongst Gestalt team leaders, is that Defensor's head is actually part of his body structure (it is hidden in the ladder base) instead of being a seperate accessory. Hot Spot comes armed with two fireball cannons, along with Defensor's fists, feet, chest plates, hip plates, and two repair bay arms. Overall, Hot Spot is a really cool figure, grading out at a solid A-. |
